Sleepy LaBeef, national treasure, has the blues again today. The hard blues.
This is from June 1955, written by Willie Dixon and initially recorded by Muddy Waters. (At times, it’s incorrectly listed as having been written by Waters, as in the liner notes on this album.) It’s also been covered by Koko Taylor and Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets.
The backing band from this 1994 session nicely complements Sleepy on this one, particularly Scott Billington on harmonica and Dave Keyes on piano.
“Young Fashioned Ways,” Sleepy LaBeef, from “Strange Things Happening,” 1994.
