Everyone’s wild about Harry

Be sure you stop over at Aquarium Drunkard and read Justin’s excellent post on a new documentary about Harry Nilsson, one of our favorites here at AM, Then FM.

Justin had the opportunity to see the film — “Who is Harry Nilsson (And Why is Everybody Talkin’ About Him?)” — in Hollywood last weekend. He raves about it, and offers its trailer, so get over there and watch it.

Justin also was gracious enough to post a couple of tunes, yet one of the commenters wondered why he didn’t post something else by Nilsson. Not cool, but the tune in question has long been one of my favorites.

So, with a nod to Aquarium Drunkard, here is that tune, by Nilsson and from the Nilsson tribute album we sampled here not too long ago.

“Jump Into The Fire,” Harry Nilsson, from “Nilsson Schmilsson,” 1971. (This is the album version, clocking in at a little over 7 minutes.)

“Jump Into The Fire,” Lavern Baker, from “For The Love Of Harry: Everybody Sings Nilsson,” 1995. (R&B with a bit of a gospel groove.)
